
PAS ulamas have pitched PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang as oppositon chief to replace Anwar Ibrahim. – The Malaysian Insider pic, February 17, 2015.PAS president Abdul Datuk Seri Hadi Awang is the right candidate to replace Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the opposition leader said the Islamist party’s conservative Dewan Ulama wing.Its Terengganu unit deputy Dr Abu Bakar Abdullah said Hadi had the credentials and the ability to solve problems faced by Pakatan Rakyat, the Sinar Harian reported today.Abu Bakar told the paper Hadi was also an internationally recognised Muslim cleric."Personally, I think he (Hadi) should be the choice. I am confident the ulama can find solutions to problems based on religion. Morever, Hadi has the leadership ability and talent which is recognised worldwide," he was quoted as saying by the Malay daily today. Abu Bakar however said the final decision on the matter lay with the Pakatan Rakyat leadership but it must be based on “tahaluf siyasi" (political consensus), a term used to describe PAS’s working arrangement with its allies in PR.Abu Bakar reminded Hadi’s critics that the Islamist party chief had administrative experience as he had helmed Terengganu as chief minister from 1999 to 2004. – February 17, 2015.MORE TO COME
