Mother arrested; 3 kids had throat wounds

.(Photo: KING)OLYMPIA, Wash. — Three young Olympia children are in critical condition after their mother attacked them with a knife, police say.Christina Booth, 29, is being held at the Thurston County Jail on three counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to authoritiesOlympia Police say the children's father called 911 just after 1 a.m. PT Sunday. He told dispatchers that his three children were bleeding from their necks.Paramedics arrived to find 6-month-old twins and a 2-year-old with life-threatening injuries caused by a knife."I think it's surreal," said Tammy Ramsey, who lives across the street from the family. "You have biases about who you think might do this to children and this family doesn't fit that bias."Police say the father was in a different part of the house during the attack."We've released him from our station. He voluntarily came down there. I don't have any reason to believe at this point that he was involved with this," said Lt. Jim Costa, a detective with the Olympia Police Department.In the quiet subdivision, built just a few years ago, neighbors were stunned to see all so much police activity on a Sunday morning."She's such a sweet lady, really, really nice, and I would've never guessed that anything like that could happen," said Erik Felch, a neighbor."I think many of us will wonder what could we have done to help her more," Ramsey said.The kids are in the custody of Child Protective Services, while prosecutors prepare to charge their mother with attempted murder.Police cleared the scene by late afternoon Sunday.See the worst winter storms to hit NYC since 2000Jan 26, 2015
